Our sample wedding invitations

Earlier this morning, I printed the invitation template I have edited the other day to check how the actual size would look like. To my surprise, I was very happy with the results and my friends who saw the sample were really amazed by my DIY layout invitations. I found more ways to be inspired and to do more DIY’s for the wedding. Designing our own layouts for the invites was a great move for us to cut down wedding costs. Good thing I was able to find an alternative way how to design our invites, most especially that I have been dying about damask invitations! Damask invites these days cost 60 pesos and above.

Here’s a quick look of our invitation layout. Yes, we do not have an envelope, but what I love about this is the sticker that we would use in front of the main cover with our initials on it. Unfortunately, the colored printers here in the office are not working (Thank  you Joseph, haha) that’s why the sample I printed was just black and white. Nevertheless, it still looks great (for me and my friends) :D

I had to edit the picture to blur out the names and other wedding details on the invite, so please bear with the quality of the pictures. 

Of course, for the actual invite, the staple wires won't be visible anymore, plus we are going to use specialty papers. To top it all, the text would be embossed. ♥  And instead of black and white, the colors would be Brown and Pink

DIY: Wedding invitation layout ♥

Finally, after experiencing too much headaches lurking for thousands of designs from the Internet, I was able to create our customized invitations based on our wedding motif! The design I have used was patterned I have downloaded from the Internet, The pink damask border was just thumbnail I have found from Google images.

Mind you, it’s really hard to find pre-customized templates on the internet. There are hundreds of templates that DIY’s guru’s can download for free, but none of these templates matched our wedding motif. That’s why I am so proud of myself that I am able to do this on my own, even without using either Adobe Photoshop– good thing for me since I don’t even know how to navigate Photoshop. I was very proud with the outcome and I just couldn’t believe that I was able to do this on my own. Thank you so much Lord for the gift of creativity.

I've deleted the pertinent information on the invites for privacy purposes. :D 

Overall, there would be three pages. One for the main invites, second is for the wedding party (names of entourage) and last is for the RSVP.

DIY: Wedding invitations ♥

As posted below, I am now going to share the templates that I am going to use for our wedding invitations. :D It still remains to be seen though, but as early as now, I started doing the layouts and edited the templates with our own wordings. :D

The invitation suites include the ff:

* Save the Date Card
* Wedding Invitation
* Wedding Party Card
* Reception Card
* Response Card
* Program Cover
* Placecards/Escort Cards
* Table Card
* Menu
* Favor Tags
* Thank You Cards

But since we already have our own designs for table numbers, we are only going to use their templates for:  Wedding Invitation (the main cover); Reception Card; Response Card and the Wedding Party Card.

What I love about this design is its simplicity. It doesn’t have to have lengthy wordings that are essential for large invitations. The design is way too straight to the point, and it only contains the date, venue, wedding party participants and some instructions. :D

The colors of these templates cannot be modified, but good thing they have brown template. And to cut down printing costs, what I decided is to buy colored specialty papers (brown) and copy the sizes and styles of the textboxes on the actual template. I just did this on Microsoft word, and made sure that the textboxes I did are the same with the textbox on the actual design.

Too simple eh? But I find it quite elegant!  

Available colors for this template are: Pink, Brown, Blue (pictures above) and Purple. I couldn’t save the brown template since the format is for Microsoft word. 

Yesterday, I printed some black and white samples, and the sizes were just so right. Not too small and not too big. Based on their website, their templates are built to fit multiple cards onto a letter size page (8 1/2 × 11 inches). Once trimmed each card is a typical card size and will fit into standard sized envelopes.

I have listed the materials we’re going to purchase for these DIY invites.

·         Parchment paper (planning to put this on the first page where our monogram would be printed)

·         Specialty papers ( for invitations and envelopes)

·         Decorative Papers ( I don’t know what they call this, but this is what I am referring to:)

·         Buckles

Free wedding invitation templates for Bride-to-Be's ♥

Happy October! I’ve been busy with work lately, and decided  not to think about the wedding preps for a few days – but since I have already pre-empted that October’s going to be a busy month for me, I can truly say that I am already back on the track! My thinking cap is already contributing more ideas and with that being said, I finally decided to give up Wink as our supplier for wedding invites, and settle for DIY invites. Yes, I know, I may not be crafty as our bride to be’s out there, but with the help of my super-friends, and MORAL support of my husband to be, I know very well that our wedding invites would look perfectly okay. =)

Invitations are very important for couples wedding since this would convey the important details about the wedding - The venue, date and time, wedding reception and some rules about the ceremony. So I suppose, the simple wordings on the invites, the better.

There are so many templates that DIY b2b’s could download over the internet, but most of the samples I’ve checked online don’t match our wedding color. Some templates can be modified but colors are unalterable. Good thing, after the hundreds of searches I made last night, Mr. Google returned me the best free template invitations so far. =) It really pays a lot to be patient in searching since I found this website on number 38 of Google’s search.

Let me share some of the useful websites that b2b’s could use too on their wedding invites.

One of my favorites is the weddingchicks - http://www.weddingchicks.com/freebies/  I was supposed to create our wedding invitations using this site, but I had a hard time figuring out where to insert the names of our principal sponsors and wedding party participants. The fields are somehow limited, and there are other texts that can’t be modified. But I still consider this site to be the most useful tool I have used most especially in creating our wedding monograms and labels.

Here are the sample wedding invitations that bride-to-be's can use for DIY's. This is actually the easiest invitation generator since all you have to do is fill out the text boxes, and voila! an instant elegant invitation would be generated, at no extra cost.

I also created a few samples from their designs but opted not to share it though. Even if I began blogging everything about the wedding preparations and the details of the wedding, I still want to conceal something about our big day. LOL.But here's the sample I used when I tried creating samples: 

An added factor why I really love wedding chicks is because they offer complete free invitation sets, not just the first page of the wedding invitation. ;) 

Aside from weddingchicks, B2B’s can also check: http://printableinvitationkits.com/topics/wedding/rsvpthank-you/   I was also planning to use their templates, however, I didn’t find the color combination that we’re suppose to use on our wedding invites. Good thing, the moderator is always up to date, so I emailed her just this morning asking if she can also make a brown and pink wedding invitation template. She then replied and said that my suggestion/ request will be on the queue and she’ll keep me posted once she’s done creating it. And oh yes, before I forget, their templates are elegant too. Evidences below :D

Another website that I found really helpful too is http://memorabletreasures.com/invitationtemplates_view.aspx   however; the downside of this website is that the templates don’t have thumbnails or previews of the designs, so you really have to open the link one by one, if you want to check it all. (Yeah, just like what I did yesterday). Unless you would based the designs according to the title of the templates.Samples below.

I just love the damask on this template. Hopefully they get to create a brown and pink version for this :)

And last but not the least, is: http://www.blissweddingsmarket.com. This is actually where we are going to download the templates that we’d use for our wedding invites! They have  few designs that DIY brides can choose from, and what I really loved about this website, is that they have brown templates! – Also, the design that I decided to download from their website is just what Mark and I really wanted – simple and modernized. I know this is going to be a challenge for us, most especially that both of us are really not that *crafty*. Good thing my super friends are willing to help out in printing out and choosing the materials we’re going to use for our invites. I just can no longer wait to share the finished product pictures of our wedding invitations. But to give you a hint how it would look like, please take a peek at the picture below:
